Starting Monday, December 12th, 2016 at 9am you can pre-bid on items until Tuesday, December 13th at 4pm. Bids will be updated and posted by email at 9am, 12pm and 4pm. If you’d like to pre-bid, please follow the instructions below:
1. Email your bid to office@lionsgatemontessori.org
2. Subject Line should include: Silent Auction – (the item you want to bid on).
2. Body of the email should include: Name of bidder, Contact phone and the bid.
We will have the items mentioned above on display on the day of our Winter Party. You will also be able to bid live, on the day of the event.
Food Drive: Once again, our schools are gathering non-perishable items to donate to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. Please feel free to drop off your donation at any of our locations. We will have a marked box by each entrance. Please note that the GVFB is on the lookout for the following high protein, whole grain, lower sodium (salt), lower sugar items such as: Canned fish or meats; canned beans, kidney, black bean, chickpeas; 100% nut butters; pasta and rice; canned vegetables, pasta sauces; canned fruit, packed in its own juice or water; whole grain breakfast cereals; and hearty soups, stews and chili.
Kindly note that due to health and safety issues, they are not able to accept the following items: homemade items, expired food, products containing alcohol, and open packages of food
Homeopathic Practitioner Visit │Thursday, December 15th, 4:30-5:15pm: Prepare and care for yourself and your family during flu season! All members of the community are invited. Please come and join Yael Klass, B.Sc., D.H.M.H.S, a licensed Homeopathic Practitioner, who is dedicated to disease prevention and health promotion strategies. She is going to cover topics on flu-fighting foods and how to use natural, safe, and preventative health care. Limited childcare is available for children over 5 years old. Please RSVP us if you’d like to attend and specify if you need child care.

Round Table Group Discussion│Monday, December 12, 4:30pm to 5:30pm @ North Creek: We invite all members of the community to join us for a Group Discussion on an overview of Montessori Pedagogy. This provides us with a great opportunity to answer any questions you may have after your Parent Conference. Limited childcare is available for children over 5 years old. Please RSVP us if you’d like to attend and specify if you need child care.
Winter Performance Party and Craft Fair 2016│Wednesday, December 14th 2pm: This will be held at the Roundhouse Community Centre. There are no regular classes scheduled for students that day. Please be aware that we’ll send an email on Monday, December 12, to let you know if we were able to accommodate extra seat requests.
ELEMENTARY & ADOLESCENT COMMUNITY
Winter Performance Party and Craft Fair 2016│Wednesday, December 14th 2pm: Please note we’ll be sending a separate email shortly with more specific information about how this day is scheduled for our Elementary Community.
Skating Lessons│Thursday, December 15th: The permission slip for this outing is now overdue. If you haven’t submitted one for your child, please do so at your earliest convenience.
Party Day │Friday, December 16th: We’re going to celebrate the last day of school and close the year on a fun note with an end-of-the-year party! Our students are welcome to dress up in their cozy pyjamas and come to school for a movie (Wall-e) and pancakes. We’ll also have time to play board games, so children are free to bring their own to play with their peers. In addition to this, we’ll also have a potluck snack, so kindly bring a snack to share.
Physical Education│Functional Fitness Training: The permission slip for these lessons is now overdue. If you haven’t submitted one for your child, please do so at your earliest convenience. Otherwise, please confirm through teachers@lionsgatemontessori.org that your child is not attending this event.
CASA COMMUNITY (PRE-SCHOOL & EXTENDED-DAY)
Arts Umbrella Dance Company: Mixed Nuts│December 16th: Kindergarten/Ex-Day students will be attending this classic holiday performance reinvented with a twist. Please arrive to school on time. Students will be taking public transit with their teachers to arrive at the Vancouver Playhouse at 10:10am sharp. Curtain time at 10:30am. Students will return school by public transit to have lunch at around 12:15 pm.
Winter Performance Party and Craft Fair 2016│Wednesday, December 14th: There is NO SCHOOL for students. Please drop-off your child at the Roundhouse Community Centre at 2pm. Preschool and Ex-Day students will go on stage at 2:30pm and performance begins at 2:40pm. The duration of the Casa performance is 15 minutes. Your child will be dismissed to you after the performance. You are welcome to stay and enjoy the Elementary performance or browse in the Winter Market and Silent Auction with your child. Please let us know at if you have any questions.
